Cartagena Outfit Diary: Day 1 – Black Scoop Back Tank, Khaki Pleated Shorts and Layered Statement Necklace

I absolutely love, love, love to travel, but like most, hate the airport lines and flying part of the process, especially because it’s near impossible to be comfy and practical, but still cute.

For our travel day to Cartagena, I wore something simple and comfortable for the plane ride, a black scoop back tank and khaki pleated shorts that I knew could easily be prettied-up for post-arrival sightseeing and picture-taking (poor Bugsy hates my photo obsession) and would also be breathable in heat (it is Colombia after all).  I paired the outfit with two summer vacation essentials, a comfy pair of strapped low block heel sandals (I always find that outside of the US, wearing flip flops as shoes in any city setting is somewhat unacceptable and impractical since there is absolutely no protection from the grime that collects after hours of walking) and a medium sized cross-body bag with zipper and latch (cross-body bags leave your hands free for shopping (obviously), keep your valuables in a secure place in front of you (pick pocketers be gone!) and provide easy access to your wallet, camera, etc.).  I generally take a slightly larger bag for traveling and for day activities to house my camera (of course) and small goods I purchase along the way. To jazz up my outfit post plane ride, I layereda glitzy yellow and quartz crystal and chain necklace on top of my new favorite crystal medallion necklace (instant chic, who says you can’t mix necklace types?) and grabbed my favorite go-to round black House of Harlow sunnies.
