As I prep for another year, I’ve been slowly cultivating a list of New Year goals. Among too many is my resolve to push the limits with my own style – to cultivate looks that are less predictable, less on trend (yes, I said it) and challenging myself to wear silhouettes that I don’t often opt for. This is especially important now that I’m no longer in my 20’s (sigh). After all, maintaining a personal style requires constant evolution (pretty sure those strapless bandage dresses won’t be making a comeback for this gal) and self-awareness.
To create a preppy winter look for a casual day around the city, I paired a striped sweater with flared sleeves that I purchased during Mango’s fall sale with my favorite pair of raw hem boyfriend jeans and draped an a-line tweed blazer. To incorporate some masculine style elements, I carried a black backpack and Sergio Rossi combat boots. Finally, to keep things playful, I opted for some geeky oversized glasses and forest green leather belt with round ring buckle.
