Winter Greys: Off-the-Shoulder Knit Dress, Rabbit Fur Wrap and Over-the-Knee Suede Boots

Last weekend, Sis and I were stepping out for brunch in the Meatpacking District and if you’ve ever been to the MPD on a Sunday afternoon, then you know that it’s not only quite an event, but the droves of incredibly clad fashion-types have taken their time to carefully curate their looks (no matter how effortless they may appear). I, of course, did not want to be an exception to the rule.

This season, I have been all about monochromatic looks (i.e. wearing items in shades of the same hue) and in particular, have been dreaming up variations of all grey looks.  Brighter than wearing all black, but more understated than wearing winter whites, there’s just something so chic, but subtle about an all grey look and in my opinion, the color compliments all skin tones.

I recently purchased an off-the-shoulder bodycon grey knit dress that is just the right tightness and shortness to not fall into the homely sweater dress pile (don’t get me wrong, I like those too, just not for Sunday Funday in the MPD) and I couldn’t wait to wear it with my favorite over-the-knee grey suede boots.  To keep the hue of the outfit consistent, I wore a pair of grey tights for warmth (bare legs during the winter are not advisable). For a little winter touch and extra coverage to save me from becoming the too naked girl at brunch, I draped a grey rabbit fur wrap around my neck and held it in place (while highlighting my waist) with a gold buckled tan belt.   To compliment the belt, I used a tan Valentino satchel with gold hardware.  For accessories, I wore my favorite chunky square sunglasses and new gorgeous studded and pyramid bracelets from Nandel Paris that Bugsy bought me for Christmas.

Fashion tip:  If you don’t want to buy a fur vest and want an item that is more versatile (or can’t afford a fur vest because they tend to be pricey), try buying a wide faux or real fur wrap or scarf.  In this way you can wrap it around your neck as a scarf, drape it outside of your jacket to add an instant fur collar or belt it (like I did with this outfit) to give it a vest effect.
