Choosing an appropriate wedding guest look requires thought and etiquette, but who doesn’t love a style challenge?
This wedding season, Bugsy and I had the honor of being invited to and attending the wedding celebration of one of our closest friends in Lake Como (travel guide in the works). Not only was the setting absolutely perfect – quintessentially romantic with breathtaking views – but all the details were meticulously planned – from luscious garden florals to a string quarter to an opera singer during the candlelit dinner reception to a mega dance party that went into the wee hours of the morning (still swooning).
In preparation for the wedding, I had to find something Italian-inspired and romantic to compliment what I knew would be a stunning setting. Research and the bride’s wedding guide also suggested that I should opt for something relatively lightweight because the lake gets hot and humid during the summer months. After months of perusing, I came upon the most gorgeous fuchsia slip dress with asymmetrical hemline from the Misha Collection, available at Revolve (currently on sale). This dress combines all of the right elements for a warm weather, wedding guest worthy look – striking color without being bridal, lightweight fabric, breezy silhouette, low back with knot detail and the most dramatic hemline – perfect for making a splash whilst dancing or walking. To keep the look from being too formal for this outdoor garden wedding, I chose more playful accessories – gold sphere drop earrings and floral embroidered minaudière. Finally, I went with champagne glitter fabric Jimmy Choo sandals because they make the most comfortable, but absolutely luxe and fabulous special occasion shoes. I wore these beauties right through the dance party.
Here’s how it came together and a peek at some of the gorgeous wedding details and incredible lake and mountain views. Ciao Italia!
