For a recent Thursday night out for some casual bites and drinks, I wanted to wear something post work appropriate, but with a little edge. After all, Thursday is practically the weekend, and I can’t think of any good reason to hold out on weekend worthy looks for any longer than is necessary.
To create this edgy midweek look, I borrowed items from both the work and party sides of my wardrobe. Since the Fall, I have been wearing the chicest oversized, totally 80’s, checked suit to work (full look coming to the blog), and wanted to incorporate its totally versatile, slightly boxy and shoulder-padded checked blazer into my post-work look. To bring out the gray tones in the blazer, I opted for gray suede pumps (also a work favorite) and a gray round bag with brass hardware. To keep things from looking too day or workish, I wore my favorite basic, black silk cami (wear it under a suit, with a pair of jeans or trousers – it is the perfect go to basic) and a pair of super skinny soft black leather pants (I bought these beauties at least four years ago and they are still a Fall/Winter staple). To incorporate something a little unconventional, I wore a western inspired gold double buckle belt (first purchased for festival season, but often worn to make any outfit just a little more interesting). Finally, to complete the look, I wore gold and black large pendant earrings and a black and gold Cluse watch.
