We’ve all been in love with the slip dress for at least a few seasons, but it’s time to up the versatility with a slip skirt.
The skirt version of our beloved silky frock is the current trend to try. Wearable all seasons, dressed-up or down, solid or printed, paired with a cami, sweater, crisp oxford or tee, with heels, boots or a pair of trainers – the style possibilities are endless. For months, I searched high and low for the perfect slip skirt – one that hugged the hips without being too tight or baggy, and the right midi length. As often is the case, Zara came to the rescue and I picked up the prettiest flowy pink satin slip skirt. The satin skirt has just enough weight to prevent any awkward clinging (critical for any satin or silk slip dress or skirt) and its ever so slightly asymmetrical hemline (rounded longer back hem) adds dimension. Thankfully, the soft and flexible fabric of the slip skirt also stretches comfortably over my growing bump.
To create a dressed-up ensemble for wedding related festivities, I paired my pink satin slip skirt with a fuscia organza blouse with exaggerated neck tie. Wearing shades of the same hue creates a more cohesive and elevated look and the exaggerated bow adds drama. To keep the look summer appropriate, I wore bright white leather slingback mules and a white python clutch. Finally for earrings, I opted for long gold drop earrings with pearl detail.
Love a monochromatic look created with shades of romantic rose. White accessories are the perfect summer compliment to this all pink look. Volume at the neck or sleeves is a great way to add visual interest and drama to your look. Bright white mules and clutch are perfect for summer. The key to a slip skirt is finding one at the right length with the right weight. A slip skirt should always hug the hips but flow away from the legs to create a soft look. Choose luxe. but lightweight fabrics for Spring/Summer. This ensemble is perfect for a daytime wedding, bridal shower or garden party. Simple accessories compliment this otherwise bold look. Asymmetrical hemline adds a bit of dimension and movement. Pair a pink look with an equally bright lip. Don’t be afraid to dress boldly.
