Trend Alert: Satin Everything & Embellished Hair Pins

The New York, Paris, Milan and London catwalks have spoken and a few fashion trends are about to take over your insta feed if they haven’t flooded it already. Among my favorite fashion trends for 2019 are satin everything (tops, trousers, dresses, shoes, etc.) and embellishedhair pins & clips.

A few other trends have also piqued my interest, like tie-die, crochet, cycling shorts and monochromatic looks, but I simply cannot cover them all in one post. Stay tuned for more Spring Summer 2019 trends coverage.

SLIP INTO SATIN

Time to dust off that steamer because satin is officially back! With it’s first major return during Fall 2018, the Spring Summer runways continued the trend with more satin slip dresses, satin trousers and even full satin suiting. Loving the trend, I was so excited to wear a blush-pink silk-satin trench from CISTAR New York to the Sally Lapointe runway show, which was a glorious celebration of silk and satin. To highlight the trench, I wore it over a simple all black ensemble – black knit turtleneck and black leggings. I can also envision this trench gorgeously paired with a sleek black gown or jumpsuit, or perhaps composed in an all blush monochromatic look. Since the weather was a bit stormy, I wore snakeskin over-the-knee boots to add some visual interest and carried a simple black geometric hand bag.

EMBELLISHED HAIR PINS, CLIPS, BARRETTES & BOBBY PINS

I know, you’re thinking what I first thought – you haven’t worn hair accessories since childhood or during an awkward period of your adolescence, but hair accessories are back in a big way and the key is placement and embellishment. Done correctly, the look is so chic and an instant fix to what may otherwise be a simple outfit.

The pins, clips and barrettes of 2019 are not quite those of your childhood, you’ll find that they are far more modern and mature in their bejeweled, metallic or pearly iterations. And, the trend is one that requires you do it BOLDLY, worn close to the face, multiples in a row or strategically placed to create a geometric design.

To complete my otherwise simple look, I wore crystal and pearl embellished bobby pins behind my ear creating a fan effect. Against my dark hair, these pins stood out to truly create a look.
