Neons dominated the Spring 2019 runways with green, yellow and pink taking center stage, and now that summer is officially upon us, it’s time to give the neon trend a try.
The neon trend has been kicking around since Fall 2018, but I completely understand that you may not have been inclined to sport neon during the Fall/Winter months (I wasn’t super into it then either, although I wasn’t opposed to a lime green turtleneck with an all black look). But now that Spring/Summer is underway, there are endless ways to incorporate this fun summer ready trend — from swimwear to accessories (purses, earrings, pumps) to dresses and jumpsuits. There’s no one right way to wear it. For beginners or the less daring, try wearing it as an accent piece to avoid feeling like you stepped out as a human highlighter or, just go all-out and lean-in with a full neon ensemble. However you wear it, the key to styling neons is to pair it with neutrals, like a simple white tee, an otherwise all black outfit or clear acrylic sandals. More is not more here my friends.
If you’ve been following along on Insta, then you know that Bugsy and I are expecting! The first few months went by without much of a fuss in the fashion/clothing department, but things are finally to shift as the baby bump takes form. As things progress, I’ve been trying to find fun ways to continue being trendy while preggo (no easy feat apparently) and I decided to give a neon look a try for a recent date night. A few months ago, pre-pregnancy, I picked up the cutest neon green broderie mini dress with puff sleeves from ASOS. Thankfully, do to the stretchy/shirred waistline and tulip skirt, it accommodates the bump. For accessories, I opted for neutrals carrying the most gorgeous black wallet with studs design from Inden as a clutch, gold block heel Schutz sandals, brown/black oversized visor sunglasses, and long gold drop earrings.
Neons are perfect for summer! Soaking in the sun! Who said you can’t be chic with a baby bump. Shirred waistline and tulip skirt help to accomodate a growing bump. Made sure to keep accessories to a minimum with this neon look. Love the puff sleeves and broderie on this neon mini dress. Summer sun + neons are the perfect pair. Love a classic pair of block heel gold sandals. Can’t stop wearing puff sleeves. Pairing neons with neutrals is the best way to keep your look from being overdone. Oversized visors are a total summer trend item to try. Used my gorgeous black inden wallet as a clutch. Lime green everything. Mini hemline helps to give me a little height. Nothing cooler than an evening in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Best way to try the visor trend is to buy an inexpensive pair. I got mine from ASOS. Happy Summer!
