From Gucci to Tommy Hilfiger to lesser known brands like Vale denim, everyone’s putting their name on tees and I’m completely obsessed. Remember the 90’s, when wearing anything plastered with your favorite brand logo was all the rage? Well, its back and totally cool again. So, brace yourself for the resurgence of logos and monograms – they’ve already been all over the runways.
What do I love most about the logo tee trend? It’s incredible versatility–wear it with your favorite pair of jeans and sneaks, denim cutoffs and mules, or a skirt with killer heels–it all works!
Last weekend, I was stepping out to meet some of the girls for a quick bite in the West Village and couldn’t wait to take advantage of the warmer temps in one of my first jacket-free outfits of the season! We were keeping it casual, but I didn’t want to compromise on style and wanted to put together a look that would show the versatility of the logo tee trend. A few weeks back, I purchased a Vale Logo Tee and couldn’t wait to wear it with something a little unexpected, a black asymmetrical mini with double zips. To highlight the cool silver zipper detailing of the skirt, I wore a pair of platform t-strap silver heels. To inject a little color and to keep the overall look fun, I carried a blue Prada camera bag. Finally, to complete the look, I wore a pair of awesome Marc Jacobs layered cat eye sunglasses and my favorite pair of gold and black enamel vintage Chanel earrings.
Fun Personal Fact: When studying abroad in Madrid with my favorite sidekick SDP, we quickly learned that Spaniards love sprinkling every sentence, thought and response with the word “vale” (i.e. okay). So, in what was likely a failed attempt at upping our Spanish authenticity factor, SDP and I would likewise insert the word in every possible expression. Long story short, I had to buy this shirt once I saw it because it reminded me of one of the most amazing periods of my life. Not surprisingly, SDP picked one up too.
