I’ve been wearing gingham since last Fall, but with the arrival of Summer, the popularity of this classic print has exploded – from off-the-shoulder tops to wide leg trousers to skirts and dresses, it’s absolutely everywhere. I know, you’re thinking gingham is just a little too picnic table-esque or farmhouse for your taste or wardrobe, but this season’s silhouettes will get you thinking differently. Here’s a look I put together in anticipation of this summer’s holiday weekends and to gear up for your next July 4th fête! Happy Summer!
To create a breezy summer look, I paired a ruched black and white gingham mini skort with one of my favorite staple tops, a white linen short sleeved button down blouse with large checks that I tied at the waist for a dose of feminity and summertime flare. For something a little unexpected, I wore a pair of nude and Lucite block heeled sandals and a black faux leather drawstring backpack. For accessories, I opted for all things gold, a collection of miansai rings and stacked cuffs and tassel earrings. Finally, I threw on a classic denim jacket for an extra layer and a little color.
Style tip: For an edgier downtown vibe, try this gingham skort with your favorite band tee and pair of ankle booties, or for a more casual look, try this look with a pair of white sneaker instead of heels.
