The High Waisted Wide Leg Trouser

on

The key to looking great is understanding your body and how to wear pieces that create the most attractive silhouette.

No one’s perfect, but looking beautiful doesn’t require it. For me, being petite (I’m barely 5’2″) and having athletic legs create challenges. Some examples – it’s nearly impossible to buy a pair of pants that do not require hemming (Style Trick: If you’re petite, consider buying ankle length pants/jeans for a no-hem full length look), skinny jeans never look that skinny on my legs, mini skirts aren’t quite high fashion, but run the risk of looking cheap/slutty (and no one wants that), and oversized silhouettes just look oversized. Despite all this, a girl still has options!

One of my favorite and most flattering items of clothing is a pair of high waisted wide leg trousers because they not only create the illusion of length and height both at the legs and the waistline, but they help to camouflage my athletic legs. Thankfully, they’re totally on trend right now – from denim wide legs to crepe to sequin!

A few months ago, I purchased the most versatile cream suit from & other stories, and I’ve been wearing it a million different ways – both with and without the blazer. To create today’s look, I left the blazer at home and wore the high waisted wide leg cream trousers with a white fuzzy sweater. I emphasized and created a distinct waistline with my favorite python belt. To keep the look light and bright for Spring, I wore my classic white Manolo Blahnik pumps and a beaded tote. Finally, for a little color and to give the look a Parisian flare, I finished the look with a caramel colored beret.
