Summer Suiting: The Gingham Print Suit

Who said you have to shed your power suits for Summer?

For my fellow power suit obsessed (e.g. here, here and here) or those whose work attire requires a jacket for the office, I am dedicated to reinventing and finding refreshing ways to wear suits all seasons. Earlier this Spring, to satiate my desire to incorporate Spring/Summer ready suiting into my wardrobe, I went bold and purchased a lavendar large gingham print suit. The silhouette of the suit is modern with a boxy oversized blazer and cropped slim cigarette trousers. The color and playful over-sized print make the overall look fun and warm weather appropriate. And, the best part is the versatility of these pieces, which can be worn together as a suit or as separates when you want to make less of a statement (picture the blazer over a simple white satin slip dress for a dinner out or the trousers with a cute sweater or blouse for day or work.

To create a Summer-ready look for Elie Tahari’s party to launch his first ever fragrance, I couldn’t wait to wear my lavender gingham print suit. To keep things tailored and sleek, I wore a white satin cami, carried a bone top handle box bag and wore gold stacked heel sandals. For accessories, I opted for large pearl embellished gold hoops from Lili Claspe that perfectly meld playful with classic elements (I’ve been wearing mine nonstop this Spring/Summer). For a more casual vibe, try switching out the cami for a white cotton t-shirt or tank and a pair of white sneakers.
