The weather in NYC has been less than ideal lately – rainy and cold for what seems like an eternity (where are you Spring?). So, it’s safe to say, I’m suffering from an episode of seasonal funkiness, but I’m not letting it dampen my style.
So, on a recent midweek day off, I tackled a million and one items that I never get to during the workweek and spent the day running around NYC. I needed a look that would be appropriate for meetings, but still casual enough to handle some errands, and put together an outfit that carried me through the day. To create the look, I paired my favorite new varsity style cream cardigan with bold contrasting trim from PINKO (that I nabbed after my event last week) with something a little unexpected, a black lace trim bodysuit to give this otherwise super preppy sweater a little edge and my favorite pair of raw hem boyfriend jeans from Madewell. For accessories, I went with a few pieces that I recently received from Romantic Rebelle – initial charm necklaces in ‘M’ and ‘Y’ and an orange faux croc belt bag (so convenient, when you’re carrying a million and one bags) – and gold ball hoop earrings. Finally, to inject a little luxury, I wore my classic white Manolo Blahnik ‘BB’ point toe pumps and Tom Ford Anoushka cat-eye sunglasses.
Style Tip: Get yourself a pair of classic white pumps because they are the nudes of summer. Choosing the right bright white pump is not always easy. My Manolo’s are the perfect silhouette, but Steve Madden, Guess, Nine West and Sam Edelman are all making great, more affordable versions.
