Whether it’s bell sleeves, bishop sleeves, ruffle sleeves, balloon sleeves or some fabulous combination of all of the above, STATEMENT SLEEVES are the trend to get in on. Often overlooked, sleeves are currently in a serious renaissance period and with the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 runways ushering their evolution, do not expect or allow your sleeves to just be absent, short, 3/4 or long this season.
All of you know, I’m a sucker for any trend, so I promptly picked up a few interesting sleeved pieces to add to my wardrobe. And, with this suddenly Spring-like weather in NYC, weekend brunch was the perfect occasion to don my new gingham off-the-shoulder top with ruched balloon sleeves and side tie. I paired the top with the comfiest pair of black pull-on super skinny jeans, my go-to classic leather motorcycle jacket, and super high point toe black patent heels. Guided by the vintage style of my gorgeous new Gucci Padlock GG Supreme Shoulder Bag (a little self gift after I started the new job), I opted for all vintage accessories – classic Chanel CC clip on earrings and the most exquisite brass and rhinestone snake bracelet (circa 1970’s) – both of which I picked up at the Manhattan Vintage Show earlier this year.
Style Tip: For super trendy pieces that you’ll likely only wear once or twice, I always turn to more affordable purveyors like Forever 21, ASOS or H&M.
