Shades of Gray: Slouchy Cable Knit Sweater, Ribbed Knit Pencil Skirt with Button Detail, Open Front A-Line Blazer, Prada Camera Bag and Silver Stiletto Ankle Boots

Day 2 of NYFW started early with morning shows and I wanted to be sure that my first outfit could take me through the greater part of the day. To create a versatile look, I layered a number of classic neutral pieces that could be taken off or worn together.

Here’s how I put together the perfect monochromatic fall look.

Nothing says cooling temps like an off-the-shoulder oversized slouchy cable knit sweater. I particularly love this marbled knit which gives this otherwise gray jumper just a little more character. For something a little unexpected, I paired it with a deeper gray ribbed knit pencil skirt with slit and button details. To keep the look breezy and to avoid bunching at the waistline (no one needs extra volume at their middle), I tucked only the front of the sweater. To create versatility, I threw on an A-line open front blazer that I could keep draped over the shoulders or take off entirely for a new look (I just love mixing unexpected silhouettes to create a unique profile). To up the fun quotient, I wore a pair of silver stiletto ankle boots. Finally, for accessories, I opted for classic black double bridge sunglasses and a blue Prada camera bag for a pop of color.
