There’s nothing I love more than wearing sundresses on hot summer days- they’re easy (no need for matching separates), feminine (what’s girlier than a dress) and versatile (perfect for transitioning from day to night). But with all wardrobe staples, I like to keep my look fresh by purchasing a few pieces each season that incorporate some of the latest trends.
This spring/summer, tie-front tops and dresses, reminiscent of classic 50’s/pinup styles, are in all the stores. So, during Zara’s summer sale (currently happening now), I was thrilled to find the cutest tie-front striped midi dress with cutout waist detail and couldn’t wait to show it off at my next Sunday brunch. Admittedly, this silhouette can be a little tricky to wear (definitely not bra friendly and midriff bearing), but I had to give it a try. To keep the overall look retro, but with a little West Side Story flare, I wore thick large gold hoop earrings (who said you can’t bring back your early 90’s hoops), an antique gold bracelet watch, gold metallic crossover block heel sandals and deep red lips. I finished the outfit with a simple white mini bag with gold chain and oversized round black sunglasses.
