Power Dressing: Yellow Off-the-Shoulder Ruffle Top, Button Front Military Inspired Pencil Skirt, Gold Block Heel Sandals and Chanel CC Earrings

on

Power Dressing has come a long way since the early ’80’s.   From a time when the phrase was synonymous with only the skirt suit, 2017’s version does it with a lot more color, riskiness and femininity, without compromising on any “power.”

For a recent meeting with a new app (more on that later), I wanted to be sure that my look evinced not only my sense of style, but inherent “power.”  While I do spend the majority of my  days in far more conservative business attire (there just isn’t that much room for creativity with lawyers), for this meeting, I was looking for something more imaginative.  To create the look, I wore a bright yellow off-the-shoulder ruffle top with a button front high rise military inspired pencil skirt.  For a little extra color, I carried my favorite PINKO Love Bag with stripe and floral detail.  Finally, for accessories, I opted for gold – a pair of vintage Chanel earrings and blocked heel sandals.  I admit, this look would be wildly inappropriate in the wrong setting (no, I won’t be showing up to my next board meeting in a ruffled off-the-shoulder top), but in the appropriate forum and a healthy amount of confidence, this look says “power.”
