Paris in New York

If you’re also a hopeless romantic, then you’ve found yourself daydreaming of  walks across Le Pont Alexandre III on a misty day or gazing up at a sparkling La Tour Eiffel at night.  A quick flight to Paris is not always an option, so I often look for ways to experience a bit of Paris in New York.

On a recent weekend with plans to aimlessly roam the city, I found myself wanting a Paris fix, so I did what any New York City fashion girl does – put on a Parisian inspired look and visit a few of the city’s most elegant French-inspired spaces for a bit of Paris in New York.   The day began with a simple, yet decadent breakfast/brunch at La Mercerie, followed by a slow walk through the Guild for interior envy and inspiration.  I then made my way to perfumerie Goutal for some olfactory sensation and of course Sézane, where I spent hours smelling, touching and admiring all the perfectly appointed details.  Finally,  after working up a bit of an appetite and needing a little rest, I  stopped for some charcuterie, cheeses and a baguette at Maison KaiserLa vie est belle.

So, what did I wear on this little escape to Paris in New York?  First, I chose the most romantic top I currently own, a lace crop top with tiered bell sleeves (that you would not believe I picked up from Forever 21 for under $25.00).  To balance the cropped silhouette, I wore a pair of  high-rise paper bag jeans (also Forever 21 and under $30.00) for some extra midriff coverage (no one needs a full belly out midday) and volume to convey a more casual vibe (Funny Fact: Bugsy calls these my Amelia Earhart jeans and I’m happy to be inspired by such a fierce lady).  In true Parisian spirit, I opted for shoes that were stylish, but not overly high or overdone – a pair of vinyl shoes with black leather toe and mid height mule, a dainty mini Prada top handle satchel and black cat-eye sunglassesFinally,  to complete the look, I wore a red wool beret.
