“OH BOY” Baby Shower

For me, planning any event is fun.  But, planning a baby shower for one of my favorite people is infinitely more fun.

SDP was fortunate to have not only one but two baby showers to celebrate the coming of Baby P.  The first was a large traditional affair with primarily family.  So, she wanted to host a second more intimate event with her closest friends here in NYC and I couldn’t allow her to plan it herself.

For weeks, we searched furiously for inspiration and suddenly a clear picture started to form – a fun and cheery garden-inspired shower that would be baby boy appropriate, but not too masculine.  After all, SDP is one of the girliest girls I know.

First, we found the sweetest “garden” venue – Bobo, a lovely multi-floored restaurant housed in an idyllic townhouse in the West Village.  Not only is every space in Bobo furnished with the most charming details, but it has a rooftop garden that is available for private events.  The space is cozy, but just right for a party of about 30-35 guests.  With its hanging potted plants, paper lanterns and lush green vines, it was the perfect setting for SDP’s “OH BOY” themed baby shower.

Inspired by our nights out in the MPD, we found jumbo gold letter balloons to spell “OH BOY” to serve as a fresh backdrop for the sweets table and for all the photos (of course).  We worked with Beachview Florist (Brooklyn, New York) to create gorgeous sunny centerpieces that were bursting with yellow and white florals and green berries from lemon filled vases.  CC baked a boatload of goodies and set up the cutest table of sweets – from chocolate covered pretzel rods to chocolate chip covered oreo cookies to gummy bears.  To make the look truly unique, we dressed the room with custom paperie, including mint and gold menu and advice cards, glitzy handmade tassel garlands, super special diaper cake, custom cupcake and cocktail picks, handwritten chalkboard signs, personalized vintage milk bottles, and the list goes on and on.  For favors, SDP gave all of her guests the prettiest boxes of mint and yellow Laduree macarons.

Games were played, speeches were made and tears were cried all in honor of our dear SDP.  I couldn’t be happier with how everything came together. Here are some highlights from the shower.
