New Year, New LBD

Happy New Year my loves! Welcome to 2019!

Is it me or did 2018 fly by? It’s hard to believe we’ve made another trip around the sun, but so glad we did it together. For my first post of the year, I contemplated the usual new year, new me topics (i.e. list of impossible resolutions), but in a moment of new year self-reflection, I realized that I’m pretty darn happy and grateful with the life I’m already living and simply don’t need a wholesale rework. Sure, we should all set personal goals for 2019 (I know, I am), but let’s not forget to honor what you already have and what you have already accomplished.

So, rather than bore you all with my personal goals of becoming a more fashionable, Asian Martha Stewart and to become as tidy as Marie Kondo, why not start the year with a new look featuring a silhouette that is sure to make a fresh statement in 2019.

Every gal needs an army of LBD’s (little black dresses), but every so often, even the classics need a refresh and I’m so glad I nabbed this button down, sweetheart neckline LBD with puff sleeves. If we learned anything in 2018, it’s that 80’s silhouettes and trends are new again and there are no signs of the comeback slowing down in 2019 (yes, expect to see more statement sleeves, neons, vinyl and pleats). Sure, we (thankfully) won’t be seeing this silhouette in petal pink or turquoise taffeta, but I love incorporating a throwback trend into a contemporary style. To balance the dress’ mini length, I paired it with thigh high black suede boots.  And to ensure, things didn’t get too Pretty Woman-esque and to incorporate some color, I toned down the bodycon silhouette with a straight-cute suede duster. To play up the vintage vibes, I wore a vintage black newsboy cap and vintage Fendi hobo bag.  For accessories, I kept things classic and undistracting with black cat eye sunglasses and drop earrings.
