Our babymoon to Lisbon would not have been complete without a maternity shoot at Praça do Comércio.
So, early on our last Friday morning in Lisbon, before the business day and tourist crowds would swarm, I met Sandra and Miguel at the center of Praça do Comércio for a shoot in my favorite maternity look to date at the dreamiest historic location.
Perhaps not surprisingly (since I’m just not a fan of maternity clothing), the dress I chose for this special location was not actually maternity, but a gorgeous coral and pink floral empire waist trapeze mini dress with bell sleeves and ruffle trim from MISA Los Angeles. The silhouette of this dress is perfect for accommodating a baby bump with its high sitting waistline and flowing skirt, and its mini length and deep cut V-neck offer a little balance to all the fabric and frill. In fact, for all of my mamas-to-be, I found that MISA Los Angeles makes an endless number of dreamy baby bump friendly dresses that you’ll be wearing during and after pregnancy (it’s also a great time right now to purchase some items currently on sale for those Resort/Cruise months or an upcoming babymoon). Because the dress is just so undeniably feminine, I wanted to play up all the girly details by wearing oversized gold and pearl flower earrings. To create the illusion of a slim, longer leg, I wore my favorite acrylic and nude block heele sandals that I bought at Zara years ago when acrylic shoes were just becoming a thing. Finally, I carried a simple mini basket bag.
Perfect floral boho dress for the mommy-to-be from MISA Los Angeles. Empire waistline is the perfect way to accentuate your growing baby bump. How dreamy are these arches? Mini hemline keeps a petite frame from being overwhelmed in fabric. Little basket bag is the perfect accessory to a floral dress. Flowy dresses with a little structure are a far better maternity choice than a full trapeze silhouette which often requires a belt to accentuate your bump and waistline. Acrylic heels are the best way to create height without distraction. All the colors of LIsbon were complimented by this coral and pink floral dress. Deep v-neckline keeps this dress from looking matronly. Billowy dresses are made for spinning. Soft waves help to achieve a romantic look. Oversized floral earrings make a feminine statement. Am I dreaming? Longer sleeves also help to camouflage any insecurity about weight gain on the arms during pregnancy. Just taking in the riverside views. Baby bump gives a little extra lift on the front hemline to create a sweet shape. Who said maternity can’t be done fabulously? Patiently waiting to meet Baby Boy. The most gorgeous morning by the Tagus River. Pearl and gold floral earrings perfectly compliment the watercolor floral print of the dress. Wearing heels to the very bitter end, but block heels offer a little more support. Always dress for your surroundings. Praça do Comércio. Lisboa, Portugal
