Last weekend was the start of New York Fashion Week (yes, that confidence-shaking time of year when almost every woman walking around NYC is about a foot taller than the norm). So, when MM and I decided to head out for drinks in the MPD, I knew I had to put on something NYFW worthy.
Although the weather was still warm, fashion week always signals the start of a new season, so I opted for something more fall-inspired for the night. I wore a slinky cross-front black midi dress with cutout back detail, threw a beaded open front jacket in mauve over my shoulders and paired it with some classic accessories, a black Chanel flap bag and black patent pointy toe Christian Louboutin heels. For jewelry, I wanted to stick with items that would not compete with the jacket (beading + crystals/shimmery jewelry is just too much) and wore a silver and brass cuff, gold plated ring and gold chain earrings.
Style Note: I absolutely love beaded jackets (and everyone is making them – Balmain, Haute Hippie, Parker, River Island, etc. etc.), but this one is particularly versatile because of its neutral, dull beading which makes it wearable for even more casual looks. And, the open face drapes in a way that makes any person look thinner.
