Lisbon Maternity Shoot

on

After we decided on Lisbon for our anniversary/babymoon, I knew I wanted to take some time on our trip for a maternity shoot. After all, how often do you find yourself in one of the most beautiful cities in the world while expecting your first baby?

But, that meant finding a potentially non-English speaking photographer in a foreign locale (not always an easy task). Thankfully, with the help of Instagram and a series of hashtag searches (#lisbonphotography, #lisbonphotographer, #lisbonwedding, #lifestyleshoot, etc. etc.), I fortuitously came upon Atmosphere Fotografia – and am so very pleased I did. Husband and wife team, Sandra and Miguel, are absolutely lovely and their work – undeniably romantic, documentary and refined.

To create my maternity look, I wore a white lace camisole dress that has been sitting in my closet for years. The dress has always been a little too boxy, requiring a belt or other waist embellishment for shape, but with baby on the way, the bump seemed to perfectly fill this romantic white frock. To create a breezy European vibe, I opted for more casual shoes and wore white square toe mules with wood heels. Finally, for accessories, I wanted to introduce a little personality, sparkle and color and wore rose gold jhumka earrings (detachable to create two looks) and cuffs from Minza Khan’s new jewelry line, which like her bags, fuse traditional South Asian craftsmanship and design with western influences.
