One of my favorite aspects of traveling is the ability to collect unique jewelry and clothing pieces to introduce into my wardrobe. Not only do they become a memento from travel, but they are often different from anything I would find at home.
While exploring Varenna on a rainy day, I came upon the loveliest boutique tucked away along a cliffside street named Varenna Store. I know, its name seems a bit obvious, but this little place had the most beautiful jewelry as well as linen, cotton and silk pieces. Needless to say, I came home with quite a few goodies for both myself and others. Among my favorite items, was a vintage style red polka dot A-line skirt. The fabric and tailoring is unlike anything I have found at home – what can I say, nothing compares to Italian fabric and tailoring. So, on one of our last days in Lake Como, I couldn’t wait to create a look truly inspired by my surroundings.
To ensure the skirt was the star of the look, I paired it with a black v-wire bodysuit that served to accentuate the shape and color of the skirt. For accessories, I opted for classics – oversized brim straw hat, gold sphere earrings and gold medallion necklace. To keep the overall look breezy, I carried my favorite round rattan bag and tied an Italian silk scarf from Pinko for a little color and extra vintageyness. Finally, I wore a pair of rose gold leaf details sandals.
