How to Make a Statement at Your Next Holiday Party

Holiday season is officially upon us and so are all the parties – from black tie galas to lavish cocktail parties to glitzy NYE soirées – it’s time to get dressed to the nines.

Here are a few tips for putting together a look that will be sure to make a statement at your next festive fête.

Go for a festive color in an updated silhouette! Traditional holiday colors like red and green or metallics, like silver and gold, are totally on trend right now, so finding suitable holiday pieces won’t be a struggle. I can remember years when everything was either navy or black for Fall/Winter, and I don’t know about you, but that just isn’t festive enough for me. For my holiday look, I went with a bright red double-breasted blazer dress.  I love the idea of powersuiting influencing my holiday look, especially for a work party The color commands attention and the tailored silhouette conveys “I’m someone to take seriously.”  To be sure I had enough bum coverage, I wore a black pleated skort that was invisible while standing, but kept the look appropriately covered while seated. To carry the red throughout the look, I wore a bright red lip  and a pair of red stiletto pumps.

Don’t forget the glitzy accessories! Nothing says holiday like sparkles and gold, so turn up the glitz factor by wearing a pair of statement earrings and a rhinestone encrusted clutch.   I opted for a pair of rectangular crystal drop earrings and a black and gold beaded crystal clutchFor something a bit unexpected I wore red gradient metal framed oversized sunglasses.  Finally, I adorned my hands in a variety of gold rings and my favorite rose gold and white enamel classic bracelet from Daniel Wellington.

Hair and makeup are part of the look!  A true starlet has perfectly coiffed hair and makeup that lives up to the outfit.  To create a polished camera-ready look, I went for a hairstyle inspired by old Hollywood waves and a bright red lipgloss that is sure to stand out in photos.
