Haute Halter: Caramel Open-Back Halter Dress, Oversized Tassel Earrings, Spiked Christian Louboutin Suede Pumps and Black Faux-Croc Clutch

on

Wedding season is in full swing and I just can’t get enough of going to lavish soirées, dancing, seeing my closest friends and family, and celebrating love, all while dressed to the nines.  But, as fun as wedding season can be, it can also be a bit pricey (gifts, outfits, lodging, etc. etc.), especially if you know you’ll be seeing the same set of family and friends at your events, or because it’s nearly impossible to avoid being plastered all over social media in your (now, not so) new dress.  So, when thinking of wedding attire, I often find myself renting for black-tie affairs (because it’s just too expensive to buy new gowns every season), buying cocktail dresses for less formal affairs from budget friendly stores (like Forever 21 or ASOS or Zara where you know the styles are on trend, but items are reasonably priced), or spending a little more on items that are versatile (so they can be worn in a number of different ways or in a number of different settings).

A few weeks ago, we were headed to HL and JS’s daytime wedding at a beautiful country club in Long Island and I couldn’t wait to wear this caramel colored open-back halter dress that I purchased a few months ago during a sale on Revolve.  I absolutely love this dress for its versatility – its simple design and neutral color allow it to be paired with almost any style or color of accessory, and its lightweight fabric made it comfortable to wear to a scorching summer day wedding.  The long halter ties also give this dress an extra element of versatility – it can be worn loose for a dramatic effect or be tied into a pretty bow.  Because this dress can be worn with almost anything, I decided to go with something a little unconventional and edgy for the wedding and paired it with oversized gunmetal beaded tassel earrings  for a modern twist on the (paintfully overdone) chandelier earring, gunmetal glitter and gold overlapping bangles, and spiked grey suede Christian Louboutin heels.  To finish the look, I carried a classic faux black croc and gold clutch bag.

Style Tip:  For a more formal affair this dress could be paired with classic crystal drop earrings, crystal clutch and strappy gold or silver heels. For a night out, this dress could be worn with a pair of gold hoops, mini chain bag and cage sandals.
