It’s hard to believe it’s birthday season again…seriously, where has this year gone?
Over the years, it’s become my family’s birthday tradition to have dinner at our favorite local Italian spot – Belvedere Trattoria – for just about everyone’s birthday. Incredible to think we’ve been going there for nine years…and even though the menu hasn’t changed, and the specials are the same every night, I still find it completely charming (and the gratis birthday tiramisu is out of this world).
For my early birthday dinner, I wanted to wear something pretty and celebratory, but still appropriate for transitioning from casual Friday to dinner plans with the parents. If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been really into florals this fall and this outfit was no exception. I recently purchased a long sleeved dark floral print mini dress with a ruffled mock neck that I was saving for a special occasion. It’s perfect for a midweek jaunt or quasi casual dinner or for transitioning from work to evening plans (the conservative cut lends itself to wearing it to the office). To camouflage its mini length I wore it with grey suede over the knee boots (black tights and heels would have also done the trick, but I wanted the look to be a little more fun and Friday appropriate). To bring out the pink and reddish hues in the print of the dress, I wore my favorite burgundy wide brimmed fedora, and since it was still fairly warm, I was able to get away with a black wool sleeveless vest with fur collar. For accessories, I opted for classics and wore a pair of antique gold dome earrings that I found in the depths of Pike Place Market during my recent trip to Seattle, rhinestone encrusted oversized gold chain bracelet, a slouchy black leather bag with chain detail that I wear to work everyday and a bright berry lip.
