Last Thursday, after a year of excited anticipation, SDP and I were finally heading to the Adele concert at Madison Square Garden. For the special occasion, we knew our looks had to pay homage to her trademark winged eyeliner and classic all black (often beaded) attire, and since it was also the first day of Fall, I couldn’t wait to try out some new trends and items that I recently purchased in preparation for the upcoming season.
Although a little tricky to wear, I’ve been into the star prints that have been popping up since last Fall (the print can appear a bit juvenile if paired incorrectly) and recently added to my collection with the purchase of a black ruffled star print off-the-shoulder top. With a sheer waist panel that highlights the print and keeps the top from looking too heavy, I wore it with another big trend right now, a pair of black cigarette trousers with athletic stripe waist. Although, the athletic stripe may seem like an odd choice for the whimsical ruffly top, combining the two trends gave this otherwise all black look, some subtle visual interest. For accessories, I need a little sparkle (Adele would likely wear an all beaded number) and carried an embellished bronze, black and crystal clutch (that I scored on super sale at Lord & Taylor). To finish the look and to keep the accessories consistent, I wore a bronze cuff bracelet and layered a thick black velvet choker with a bronze circle choker. For shoes, I opted for a nude suede single strap heel.
