A few weeks ago, I was heading out for one of my first events for NYFW and with cooler temps right around the corner, I wanted a fall transitional look. After all, this is my favorite time of year for clothing – warm enough to not have to wear a bulky coat, but cool enough to layer and wear more interesting silhouettes (there’s only so much you can do with tanks and shorts).
When I think of florals, I tend to think of summer and spring, but florals were all over the fall 2016 runways on dresses, shirts, jacket and even sweatshirts. With slightly darker prints and fabrics, they can be the perfect way to incorporate some romance into your fall/winter wardrobe. Fortuitously, I purchased the most gorgeous floral print maxi shirt dress from Zara at the end of the summer and couldn’t wait to wear it once the temperatures cooled down. I just love the silhouette of this dress, the buttons allow you to control the height of your slit and the a-line floor-length skirt gives the illusion of height. To keep the look from looking too spring/summer, I wore it with black suede high heeled booties and a black leather bucket bag with tassels. To break up the print, to highlight my waist and to add some visual interest, I wore a double gold buckle and black leather belt. Finally, for accessories, I wore my favorite oversized black cat eye sunglasses, a pair of large gold hoop earrings and a gold with black face CLUSE watch.
