A few weekends ago, Bugsy and I headed out for an impromptu date night at Scarpetta.  One of the best perks of living in NYC is the ability to walk out your door and decide in that moment to dine at one of the finest restaurants in the world (admittedly, if it’s a new opening, you’ll likely won’t score a last minute reservation, but a seat by the bar is usually an option).

Most days, and my best friends will confirm, that I spend my leisure time at home in ragged U.S. Open t-shirts and shorts (fun fact: Dad ran merchandising at the event for years while we were kids).  So, for nights out, I try to dress my best.  For our lovely Saturday date night in the Meatpacking District, I opted for a strappy red and white striped asymmetric ruffle hem dress that I scored at Zara a few weeks ago.  It combines everything I love this season – stripes, ruffles and a fun hemline.  To play up the latin feel of this dress, I wore a pair of classic gold hoops and my favorite Lucite blocked heels (reminiscent of dance shoes and all very contemporary West Side Story-esque). To complete the look, I carried a vintage basket weave clutch and my favorite pair of layered cat eye sunglasses by Marc Jacobs.
