Last weekend, Sis and I headed to Denver for some much needed fun and change of scenery. I was there to attend a work conference, but was lucky to have some free time sprinkled in between sessions and networking to enjoy the mile high city. For our first night out, we were headed to a much anticipated dinner at Linger and post-dinner drinks (and to our welcome surprise, an amazing 90’s dance party) at Ophelia’s.
Since it was my first time in the city, I didn’t know what to expect by way of local fashion, but knew I wanted to stay true to my NYC style while incorporating some “western” inspired elements. A little pre-trip googling also informed that despite 100 degree days, temperatures dip significantly after sunset, so I opted for pieces with a little more coverage for my evening attire. A few weeks ago, I fell in love with and purchased a cerulean blue jumpsuit with a bardot ruffle top and wide legs. I know…it sounds like a lot…but this one piece is the perfect recipe for creating a super styled, long and lean silhouette without any work or loss in comfort (it’s practically pajamas). The bardot (i.e. off-the-shoulder) ruffle top is flattering on all necklines and the wide leg trouser pants slim and elongate (and hide any insecurity you might have with) your legs. For shoes, I opted for a high black suede lace-up sandal with a stacked heel to keep the overall look from being too dressy and for comfort in case we ended up walking or dancing. To inject a little Colorado-inspo while rocking one of the most popular trends right now (i.e. chokers), I wore a black velvet choker with faux stone medallion that was subtly reminiscent of a western bolo tie. To finish the look, I wore a rich brown faux croc crossbody bag with gold chain and gold bamboo detail.
