Last week, I met up with the girls for our monthly meetup and to celebrate Sis’s promotion to partnership at Lure Fish Bar (I’m convinced it’s the most (or at least one of the most) sophisticated happy hours in NYC and who doesn’t love $2 oysters in a space that makes you feel like you’re dining in the cabin of a luxurious yacht). And, since I was in the midst of “leisure” (i.e. my two week funemployment period before starting the new gig), I wanted to look just a little cuter than my usual post-work self. After all, I had to take advantage of the rare opportunity of going to a midweek dinner straight from home (ahhh…the life) and couldn’t wait to wear a few new (and oh so) dreamy purchases I made during my leisure days (whoops).
For our Tuesday night out, I wanted to be chic, but still cozy and opted for a slouchy cream off the shoulder sweater that I paired with skinny frayed hem jeans (style tip: for us petite, pick up a pair of “ankle” jeans to avoid hemming and to salvage a unique hemline, like fringe) that I picked up at Lord & Taylor on super sale right after Christmas. To add a little luxury, I wore my new Gucci double G nylon web belt that Bugsy bought me for Christmas (I guess my not so subtle hints worked out just right), nude, super strappy, suede Aquazzura heels that I purchased for 80% off at Saks (yes girls, dreams come true…I’ve been eyeing these beauties for two seasons) and a nude vintage Ferragamo bag that I nabbed a few months ago at the Manhattan Vintage Show for under $100. Finally, I threw on my favorite black leather motorcycle jacket, a pair of black Alexander McQueen double bridge sunnies, hammered rose gold bar necklace and gold/black Cluse watch.
